POST10: ENGLISH LANGUAGE CHALLENGES

I began the study of English in the university with this class, so it was my first experience in the study of English in the university. I think it is a good class which improved my level of English and made me talk and knew some new people and classmates. Also, I think it is very kind with the new subjects and knowledge, because the teacher went slowly for all the students could understand.

About the blogs, I think it made the course more friendly and interactive, because it is a new way to learn and improve the level of English.

My area of weakness is the pronunciation, I'm really bad speaking some sounds that are so weird for me! I had this problem since I started to study English so I think it will be difficult to me to fix it, but with some hard work and practice I think I will improve my pronunciation. At the moment I don't know which exercises would help me in my pronunciation, but I will check on internet and ask my teacher.

The new knowledge that I learned in this class helps me not only with the grades in the English tests, it helps me in my daily life too. Now I can watch some movies and tv shows in English without the subtitles, that helps me to learn some ways of speak more informal. Also, it helps me to understand better some of my favourite songs. Now I don't have to watch the letter of that songs on internet, I can understand it by my own.

POST8: AN EXPERT ON SOCIOLOGY

One of the best sociologists in the history was Theodor Adorno, he was born in Germany specifically in Frankfurt. Beside the sociology, he was an expert in philosophy, psychology and politics sciences.
He was, with Max Horkheimer, the founder of the critic theory with inspiration in the Marxist theory, this theory is recognized because it takes the central concepts of the Marxism and reviews it, mixing it with some conceptions of the psychoanalysis and concepts of the theory of Max Weber.
Also, he founded the Frankfurt school of social theory, one of the most famous institutes of social research in the world, that exists until today and his actual director is Axel Honneth who continues the thinking of Adorno.
The theory of Theodor Adorno, the "critic theory" is very important to the history of the sociology because it began for the ascent of the Nazi regime and critiqued the reason and the modernity. It expressed the contradictions of the illustration and instrumental reason, and stresses that the instrumental reason will always become in domination of the human beings.
I like him very much for a lot of reasons, but I will say two of them, the most important ones: the first one is because his theory, I think it helps very much in the study of the modernity and capitalist because this models of society are marked for the trust in the reason and the "rational selfishness", so if we want to criticize it, we have to criticize the reason itself. The second reason is because in the time that he lived the soviet Marxism was living his gold period, and Adorno and his partners could criticized it without became in liberal theory, they criticized it from the Marxism too but a different kind of Marxism that propose a way of socialism without the violation of the freedom. The thing that I don't like of Adorno is that he never did real politic or contributions to the revolution, he only stay in the theory but not in the action.

POST7: ANIMALS AND PETS

I'm not really a animal lover, I don't feel the same thing for an animal that I feel for a human being, I can't think that an animal has the same value of a human being, I'm a anthropocentrist.

However, I don't like the people who use the animals like a thing, hunting or buy them. We need to keep in mind that they are living beings! So in spite of I'm not a animal lover I respect them and treat with respect and care. Actually, in my life I've had many pets like turtles, rabbits, dogs, fish and even a goat. Now, I have a dog that name is Cloro, because he is white jajaj I know that is a silly name but wuth my family thought that it was funny. Cloro doesn't live with me because there's no space in my apartment, so he lives in the house of my grandparents and I go to visit every weekend.

In spite of I don't so close to the animals, I like two kind of animals in special. The first one are the axolotl, they are a mexican amphibian and it's very rare, so beautiful. I knew this kind of animal reading a short story of Julio Cortazar, in that story he talks about the axolotls. The other kind of animal that I like are the tigers. I think they are majestic, because the colour of his hair, the deep of his eyes and the way of they moves. I would like to be a tiger!

POST6: HOW GREEN ARE YOU?

Talking sincerely I'm not a tree-hugger or a Eco-hero, actually I'm not even a green-in-between. I've never recycle, not once in my entire life! that makes me feel ashamed but it is the true. Also, I hardly ever ride a bike because I learned to ride just three years ago, and since then I have ride a few times because I'm not so good at it. In addition, I always use bus or car which are some of the most polluting means of transport.

I would like to be more kind with the environment but I'm very lazy with this kind of things, it's something of my behaviour that I have to change. But also of my lazy mood I think in Santiago haven't enough places to recycle or to use other means of transport beside the motorized ones. The most of these places are in the rich places of the city, in the east zone. So, the people who lives in others communes or zones of Santiago, like me, aren't able to recycle or use the bicycle, it's very difficult to us!

One thing that the political publics have to improve is about the care of the environment, especially in the poor zones of Santiago because these places have the highest level of pollution. Also, the people, included me, have to learn some things about the care of the environment like use the car less, not throw out the rubbish to the street, recycle, not fire the leaves in autumn and not light firewoods.

To care the environment I compromise to recycle and support some ecologist organization, what will you do?

POST5: MY FUTURE JOB

I'm studying sociology and I'm just in the first year but I already wonder about how would be my ideal job in the future, maybe it's a little hurried but I'm very hopeful about it.

I would like to have a job in which I could mix theory and practice, I'm thinking of working in a foundation or a NGO or maybe in the public service but no as a burocratic worker, I would hate that! I mean a public service like a Ministry or an institute. I wish work in places like these because they mix the work outdoor and indoor, that is because I would have to do researches with the relations between people in a specific field and then write a report about it.

Also, I think I would like to work in a university, there I would have to make researches too, but also I would have to do classes and I'm not sure if I will have the knowledge to do that, however I wish I could do a PhD or a major in the future so I can improve my knowledge. As you can see, I have not decided where I want to work yet, it´s a very difficult decition!

Another stuff that I will consider to choose my job in the future are things like salary, work enviroment and schedule. About the salary I don't want to earn too much because I think I would spend it in thigns that I won't need, so I wish earn enough money to live comfortable but not with luxury. I wish the work enviroment won't be competitive and I will be able to do teamwork with my workmates. Finally, I hope I won't work so many hours because I don't want to spend my entire life working, so I would never do extra hours!

POST4: MUSIC

Music is something more than just sounds, is something that you can feel with all your senses. You can see music, taste music, touch music, is something that envolves all of you.

I listen to differents kinds of music, actually my likes of music are wide range. I like indie music, some kinds of rock, folk, trova, chilean music and some songs of cumbia and reggaeton. So I don't like when people ask me what kind of music I listen because I can't say an especific type. However, my favourite group is The Smiths, they were an english group of alternative rock, but they are separated since 1987, it is ten years before I was born! Since then Morrisey who is the singer of the band began a single career and I like him very much. I like The Smiths because the letter of their songs, because how they sound and especially because the voice of Morrisey, you have to listen to!

Sadly, I've never been to a concert of Morrisey, actually I don't go to so many concerts, the music I listen is downloaned from internet. I've been to a three concerts in my life, the first one was a concert of the spain group Ska-p, it was in 2008 and I went with my dad. The second one was the concert of 100 years of the Communist Party in 2012, there I listen to groups like Sol y lluvia, Manuel García and Silvio Rodriguez. The last one was this year in may, and it was of Silvio Rodriguez, as you see I'm a big fan of him.

My favourite song is one of The Smiths, it is "Ask", it makes me feel so many feelings, but I think it's personal so I won't write it in here. I wish somedat I could listen Ask in live or learn to play it in guitar, sadly I don't know how to play guitar, actually I don't know how to play any instrument.

I think music is a important part of the culture, it represents the richness of all of cultures, so we have to repect every kind of music, even the one we don't like.

POST 3: MY READING HABITS

Reading is one of the activities that I enjoy the most, so I read books every time that I can. This habit begins when I was a child, when I was like six or seven years, so I would say I'm a book worm. My first readings was books like "Papelucho", "La fuerza de la gacela" or "Tomacito", I remember that because these books was very important in my growth.
When I became a teenager I started to read books like Demian, Steppenwolf, !984, "100 años de soledad" or "Rayuela". This last book was the most meaningful to me, actually is my favourite book. Rayuela's autor is Julio Cortazar who is my favourite writer, he was an argentinian writer who was born in Belgium, he wrote many famous books like "Historia sobre cronopios y famas", "Bestiario" and so many others.
Recently I hadn't read novels because I have to read a lot of texts for the university, actually the last novel that I read was like three months ago! it is a very long time. Anyway, the last book that I read was "Abaddon el exterminador" of Ernesto Sabato, this book is so exciting and deep! I recommend it without a second thought.
